Maria Mejlhede has a background in communication and psychology. She wrote her bachelor’s thesis at the University of Copenhagen on how the war in Afghanistan was portrayed through rhetoric in politics and media. Later, her academic focus shifted more toward psychology with a particular interest in the maritime sector.
She has worked in political lobbying for the Danish pelagic fishing industry and has been running her own consultancy since 2020, specializing in political strategy, communication, and EU funding programmes. In recent years, Maria has focused on issues like disinformation, youth engagement in democracy, and how international organizations such as NATO address these challenges.
Maria has a strong ability to at understanding complex issues and finding clear ways forward. She knows how to work with EU funding programmes and how to turn ideas into action. With a strong network in both politics and business, she connects people and opportunities across different sectors.
Maria is also one of the founders of Nordic Detection – a company specializing in detection dogs, particularly trained for explosive detection.
